A Night in
Ukraine
by Peter DOC Pantina
"My wife and I not only enjoyed the show immensely but found it profound, illuminating, and timely!
It is well crafted and written, and pulls us into a world that is all too familiar and relatable. The arc of the three plats exemplifies the struggles we encounter in the face of war. Despite the turmoil and difficult choices, the characters face throughout, it is both poignant and comical."

"Peter's most recent play is charming, humorously serious, and thought-provoking all at once. The audience empathizes with a mother's need to speak to her poet son on the Russian/Ukraine front while her husband stands firm on his support of Mother Russia. We are concerned for three women hiding in a Ukrainian cathedral when confronted by that same soldier. And then, sometime in the future, we watch a young immigrant soldier and his wife negotiating to buy a home in "Little Russia" - aka Brighton Beach.
These short pieces clearly make important statements about their time and place, yet with a light hand that allows the audience to leave the theater, but not the impact of the ten talented actors."

"Timely, enlightening, emotionally-
charged, and endlessly engaging!
These are just a few words that come to mind when describing Dr. Peter Pantina‘s groundbreaking new play which follows a reluctant Russian soldier who is forced to participate in Putin’s invasion of Ukraine against his will.

The play sheds light on one of the most important geopolitical conflicts in the modern world today while simultaneously showcasing the shared humanity of ordinary people navigating the inhumanity of war.

In other words, Pantina‘s play accomplishes what all great art sets out to achieve: it is both entertaining and educational. His masterful storytelling was on full display here and was complemented by a very talented cast of actors and actresses.

"Peter Pantina's evocative set of three interrelated one-act plays masterfully tells the story of a Russian poet-soldier's journey from the terrors of a war he didn't want to fight to his final redemption of a new life in America. His writing is vivid and immersive, offering a glimpse into the cultural and emotional landscapes of Russia, Ukraine, and America. His richly created characters offer a mother's love, a father's old dogma, a young wife's devotion, and even a spiritual reawakening in a small church shrine.
The third play is a charming and witty examination of the immigrant experience over generations. It leaves the audience with hope and a sense of joy. A truly rewarding experience!

"Live theater is alive and well on
Long Island. Peter Pantina's dramatic three-act play, surpassed all expectations in two sold out performances at the Next Chapter bookstore, a new bibliophile haunt in Huntington NY. The play beautifully captures the personal side of eastern Europeans during this tumultuous period in history, from their perspective and that of recent immigrants to the USA.
The humor-peppered drama reminds me of my love for theater and appreciation for good writing and acting, which is much better experienced in a live setting."
